Taxfree shopping

VAT constitutes 20% of the price in Sweden, so if you live outside of the EU (except Norway) there is money to save. Big money! But only if you live outside of the EU. If not, tough luck!

You can get up to 17,5 percent of the tax refunded on every purchase exceeding in shops affiliated with Global Refund.

Here's how:

1. Make your purchase in any of the 7000 stores affiliated with Global Refund. Minimum purchase SEK 200. Show your passport and ask for a Global Refund Cheque. Your goods will be sealed and cannot not be opened until you have received the export validation. The goods must be exported no later than three months after the date of purchase.

2. Present your passport, your sealed purchases and your Global Refund Cheques for export validation, at the point of departure from Sweden, or from the last country you visit within the EU.

3. Cash your Global Refund Cheques at any Refund office. Refund Offices in Sweden, Finland, Norway and at Copenhagen Airport are authorized to validate export when they cash your Global Refund Cheques. If you leave the EU from another country, you must present your goods at Customs in order to obtain export validation. Note: Fill in your name, address and passport number before you present your Global Refund Cheque.
