Facing north: The southern part of the Kungsträdgården
park is called the square of Karl XII and is named after the statue of this
young warrior king who lived between 1682 and 1718, when he died on the
battlefield.
Facing northwest: West of the square is Jacobs Kyrka from
1643, the church of St James - patron saint of wayfarers.
Facing
southwest: In the southwest corner you see the back of the Royal Opera which
houses one of the most famous restaurants in Scandinavia, Operakällaren -
the Opera Cellar. This culinary paradise for gourmet food has been around since
since 1787. There are also more casual places, the Café Opera, the Opera
Bar and Bakfickan.
Facing south: From this point you can look across
the water towards the Skeppsholmsbron bridge, the Old Town and the
Royal
Palace. The sightseeing boats for the Djurgården tour leave from the
foot of the Strömbron bridge. |
