View from Evert Taube's terrace

The west quai of Riddarholmen is called the Terrace of Evert Taube (1890-1976), and holds a statue of the much loved Swedish poet and song writer.

Facing west: The Mälaren lake - Sweden's third largest - stretches more than 200 kilometers west from this point.

Facing east: The 16th century tower "Birger Jarls Torn" and the Wrangel Palace are the only buildings left of the original defense installations that once surrounded Stockholm.

Facing north: The Town Hall from 1923, Stockholm's world famous landmark building.

Facing south: Södermalm - the south island - is primarily residential.
