| This is a combination of two islands. Tjockö, the larger of the two, has a permanent population of about 50 people and Fejan is even smaller and cuter and has the cafe and hostel. The local countryside was the inspiration for the illustrator Curt Stopendal, who settled on Tjockö for some time and painted hundreds of pictures depicting Santa Clause figures and such. The network of hiking trails throughout the island makes it easy to explore. There's a road that runs about 5 km from the steamboat landing straight across the island towards the east. One of the best places for taking a dip is Tjockö's northwestern shore that runs along the road to the lighthouse. The visitor's landing is beautifully situated on the northern shore of the island of Tjockö and during the summer you can get a look at art exhibitions at Tjockö Bygård.
