Sandhamn

Sandhamn is best known for it's swimming possibilities and international sailing events and the town is bustling in the summer when events and parties are held almost constantly on the isle. This makes it as much a beautiful getaway as a party central. It's one of the few islands in the archipelago that's actually had to call in police from the mainland due to wild parties on Midsummer's Eve.

Places to pass by on your trip include the Sandhamn museum, the Pilots Landing, where the pilot-boats were kept until they were needed to take the pilots out to sea and the Pilot's Lookout. You should also see the cemetery which is rich in atmosphere. Reading the inscriptions on the burial stones allows the thoughtful visitor to imagine what life was like out here 150 years ago.

Swimming spots and beaches are best discovered upon arrival. Head the way the crowd isn't and read your map, you're sure to find a place that suits your needs.
