Nynäshamn

Nynäshamn is not actually an island, instead it's located on the southern part of Södertörn, the large peninsula south of Stockholm. It's a is a complete boiling pot for sailing activities and hosted the Olympic Games in 1912 (yes we know that was a long time ago but still!). These days the major sailing events are hosted during the summer, and the winter season is mainly a time for getting to the many ferries leaving for the island of Gotland and the far off and exotic Poland.

In "Nynäs" you can stroll through the charming harbor area and grab a bit to eat at one of the restaurants or you can take a short boat trip to several of the islands in the southern archipelago. Rent a bike, try out your roller-blades or just stroll along the beautiful Strandvägen, a street that follows the sea for a few kilometers.

General information

You get there by the commuter train from the Central Station. The trip takes about one hour.
