Kymmendö

August Strindberg the famous Swede considered Kymmendö paradise on earth and even based a book on it. The 15 people that now live on Kymmendö all year round now are the descendants of the characters who appear in Strindberg's novel. The mere fact that there is an island anywhere that only 15 people live on is beyond us but certainly adds to the weird charm. On your visit you can stroll through woods and fields and visit the cabin in which Strindberg did his writing. Unfortunately there are no cabins for rent or places to camp but day-trippers are welcome.
