By carThe distance from Stockholm is 420 kms. Count on 6-7 hours of driving, using the E4 from Stockholm, changing into E22 at Norrköping. E22 continues on to Malmö and the Öresund Bridge leading into Copenhagen, which is 370 kms from Kalmar. E22/E4 is a great route to take if you are travelling between the two capitals and Kalmar is the logical choice for an overnight. See our large Sweden map. By airSAS has a daily morning flight from Stockholm and two return flights, one in the late afternoon. By trainThere are two possibillities here - the quick 4,5 hour trip by SJ's X2000 high speed trains (changing at Alvesta) or the longer but very scenic trip by Kustpilen, changing trains at Linköping ( travelling time 5 hrs, 40 mins). SJ has online reservations and timetables for both.
