Finnhamn

Finnhamn is a place at the edge of the world. It's part of the outermost archipelago and faces the open sea. Here the winds blow colder and the landscapes are harsher, it's a place for contemplation and old world romance. Finnhamn consists of three islands, Stora Jolpen, Lilla Jolpen and Idholmen.

Here you can walk around freely on the three islands through many different types of surroundings like woods, open fields, across rocky shores and through sheltered coves.

On the highest lookout point you can practically feel the history seep through you and almost smell the scent of rum from an era long gone, when sailors ruled the sea.

Basically the place has a lot of history and is worth a visit.

Since this is mostly a summer town, that's when a visit will be most enjoyable. The tavern offers coffee and dining and last but not least a spectacular ocean view. There's a grocery store open there during the summer too.

You can rent rowboats at the STF (Swedish Touring Club) hostel. If you're bringing your own boat, the guest harbor in the harbor of Långhamnen right across from Finnhamn has 40 spots for dropping the ol' anchor.
