Fun for children

Bringing the kids? Here are the top 15 activities for families with children in the Lake Siljan area, compiled by Siljanturism who provides the fact sheets linked.

  1. "Summerland" Adventure Park in Leksand
Sweden's second largest adventure and water park - and definitely the most beautiful.
  2. Orsa Bear Park
Europe's largest bear park. Experience the bears in the wild: as close as you can possibly get to seeing them in their natural habitat. Also features wolves and lynxes.
  3. Santa World
Santa really lives here! Visit him, the elves, trolls and all the other characters at Gesunda Mountain. Open in summer and winter.
  4. Summer Toboggan Track (Sommarrodel)
The longest summer toboggan track in Sweden - 700 meters! It is also the only one with twin, parallel runs, so you can race your family or friends. Even small children can ride, but with their parents.

The Summerland Adventure Park in Leksand is easily the most popular family attraction in the area, but the competition with the bear park in Orsa and Santa World in Gesunda is tough. Kids will just love all of these places. Photo: Siljanturism AB

  1. Dalacarlian Horse making by Grannas A Olsson or by Nils Olsson, Nusnäs
The symbol of Sweden, which all started as a toy for children. When our Prime Minister visits foreign dignitaries abroad, he takes a Dalecarlian Horse as a gift with him. Bill Clinton, amongst others, has got one. Nusnäs, just outside Mora, is the only place where they are made. Come and see the craftsmen carve and paint the country's most popular symbol.
  2. Midsummer Celebration
The Midsummer celebration around Lake Siljan is one of the most genuine celebrations Sweden can present - and everyone is welcome.
  3. Swimming
Sandy beaches around the main lakes, a small lake deep in the forest or a heated pool - you have lots of places to choose from.
  4. Bowling
Sweden's most modern, 12 lane, bowling alley is in Orsa!
  5. Horse Riding
Go horse riding in the wild…
  6. M/S Gustaf Wasa and S/S Engelbrekt
Take a lunch cruise or a regular trip on one of Lake Siljan's fine ships.

One of Sweden's largest forest museums. It presents the flora and fauna of the Siljan area.
  8. Miniature Golf / Adventure Golf
Miniature golf courses for the whole family.
  9. The Countryside - inside the meteor crater
The whole Siljan area is enclosed in the crater of one of the world's largest ever meteor impacts. The smooth crater sides caress the whole landscape. Some of Sweden's most famous poets and writers have tried to capture this special landscape in their lyrics and texts.
  10. Panoramic Views
Siljan offers many panoramic views, some of which are starred in the Guide Michelin.
  11. Siljansfors Timber Industry Museum (Siljansfors Skogsmuseum)
An open air museum that shows the history of the Swedish timber industry.
