| Björkö is well known for the Björkö-Arholma church which lies south of Väddö and can be reached by either taking a car or the bus. Another attraction in the area is the island of Arholma, which can be reached by taking the 20 minute ferry from the Simpnäs landing on Björkö. Honestly there aren't a lot of people living on Björkö, only about 70, but for some reason it always feels jammed since it's such a great place for an outing. On Björkö you can visit the church and admire the paintings there by the artist Harald Lindberg (well known in those parts). You can also mill around and drink in the environment of the seafaring days, when the island was dependent on sea trade to survive. The mystique still lingers on the shores and harbors. In Simpnäs there's also a Seamen's Association Museum where the factual history can be taken in. Most people spend a couple days there to get some peace and relaxation, rent a bike and catch a sunset. All in all it's your perfect utopia.
