Scuba divingSo you want to get a feel for Stockholm from underneath the waves? Well it's easy and you'll find amazing things under the surface in the Nordic waters. A favorite pastime for Swedish scuba divers is wreck diving, mainly because there are so many remnants from different wars and different freight ships that have met their fate in the cold waves and now lie peacefully submerged at the bottom ready for us to explore. Below you find what you need to do to get below in Stockholm. We've divided it up according to skill levels: Beginners, certified PADI or NAUI level ones and advanced diving.
Beginners:Before jumping into the water you're going to have to get
certified. This means receiving scuba training from somebody who knows what
they're doing. There are many internationally recognized diving companies, but
two stand out and are well respected; PADI and NAUI. Both can be found in
Stockholm. There is a slight problem though, most scuba centres do not offer
training in English, although many terms in English are used. To guarantee that
the course you choose will be in the right language, ask the scuba school in
advance. But first off, get acquainted with the companies: The next step is to get in touch with the company of your choice in Stockholm, so they can give you the crash course and set you on your way. NAUI in Stockholm: |

Certified PADI OW or NAUI SDSo you're certified but not ready to risk it and set out on your own in the cold waters? Well in Stockholm many of the diving schools (see links above) host excursions where you can rent equipment and there you'll have an instructor present so you don't get into trouble. Different excursions are offered for different skill levels. The two following links offer excursions only, so being a certified diver is a must. < www.djup.se (Swedish only)or info@djup.se.
Advanced divingFor those of you who have been playing the game for years and are bringing your own gear and have no need for pesky little diving schools then here are a couple of places where you can get started and find the right dive for you, so you can be on your way. If you're just looking for the heavy essentials, like tubes and boats and things, then check out the links to Djup, they host tons of excursions.
