Some of Europe's finest congress facilities.Stockholmsmässan, 9 minutes away by commuter train from the City Centre, and Stockholm City Conference Centre, including Folkets Hus and Norra Latin, are facilities suitable for everything from small meetings to large mega-congresses including exhibitions. Superb logistical infrastructure.Numerous fine hotels, close to public transportation or within walking distance of conference facilities or Stockholm Central Station. The public transportation system is very reliable and prices are very reasonable. Or if you'd prefer to drive, we have very few traffic jams in comparison with most European cities. Getting around the city is quick and easy. | This is where the City of Stockholm treats congresses to a welcome reception - the Golden Hall in the City Hall, where the walls are covered with 20 million pieces of mosaic. A value-for-money city.Despite what many may claim, serious comparisons show that today's Stockholm is also a very competitive city price-wise. In many respects, Stockholm offers the best economic climate too. At the moment, for example, Sweden's VAT regulations for congresses are extremely advantageous in comparison with those of competing citites. Rub elbows with Nobel laureatesThe chance to eat dinner or enjoy a glass of champagne in the Stockholm City Hall, where the Nobel prize banquet is held each year, attracts many scientists from around the world. Stockholm also has many of the world's leading researchers at Karolinska Institutet, the Royal Institute of Technology and the Stockholm School of Economics, which guarantees a good congress environment. Everyone speaks EnglishNearly everyone is surprised that anyone they speak to in the streets of Stockholm speaks and understands English. And many people speak other foreign languages too, including German, Spanish and French, which are third languages in Swedish schools. Great social programme possibilitiesThe social programme in Stockholm can include so much more than a Nobel banquet at the City Hall. The ability to offer a rich and varied selection of dinners, excursions and activities, both for sponsors and for delegates and their accompanying families, has always been one of Stockholm's strongest points. Things work in Stockholm. It may seem strange that this is something that distinguishes Stockholm from other places. But Swedes are famous for keeping our promises. If you are told that that the bus will be there, it will be there. If you are told that the facility's technical equipment will work, then it will work. Stockholm is exotic.Stockholm can tempt delegates from America, Japan and other countries with Sweden's full range of exotic treasures. How about spending a winter's night at the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, taking a dogsled ride in Hemavan, or going on a guided skating tour through the shimmering archipelago ice in mid-winter? Or seeing the midnight sun in Lappland, taking a steamboat tour, or enjoying Stockholm's cafés and range of entertainment possibilities in a pleasant summer climate? Stockholm can offer the sort of things many people long to do in their free time. Full support from the City of StockholmWe have the full support of the City of Stockholm and other public Swedish institutions. The City of Stockholm invites international congresses to a reception at the City Hall (subject to certain conditions being met); international congresses can buy special passes valid on all forms of public transport; and the Royal Family, government ministers and many governmental authorities are regularly involved in congresses, before, during and after they are held.
